Whatsapp has made an announcement that it has launched a native desktop app which is available on both Windows and Mac devices. Well Whatsapp is owned by Facebook and it has said that Facebook supports desktop notifications, better keyboard shortcuts and many more. In fact, all the messages are synced with WhatsApp’s mobile devices as well.

Earlier this week, there were some leaked screenshots which indicated a desktop app will soon be released which will allow sending messages to friends and sharing files right from the PC.

Well there is an addition of WhatsApp’s desktop which joins Facebook Messenger which debuted a standalone version of its service right for web and also for PC. The addition of this tool makes the service more accessible and can surely be aimed at accelerating growth. Well the great news is that WhatsApp already counts more than 1 billion monthly active users which will soon to be surpassed.

Well the Whatsapp’s desktop app works perfectly well on computers with MacOS X 10.9, Windows 8, or higher. The app needs to be installed with the scanning of a QR code using the Whatsapp app right on the mobile device. Well the features are usually under Settings in Whatsapp Web. If the QR code is recognized then there will be authentication on desktop. Well the Whatsapp for desktop connects to the phone to sync messages with a quite a bit of data constantly transmitted right on the usage of course.

The desktop app is no different than the mobile version which was launched in August. There can be contacts to communicate with emojis and files attached to messages. There is the additional feature of Voice dictation as well.

With the desktop app communicating with loved ones is much easier right when the messages are properly synced. Well now whatapps is at par with various competitors like Facebook, Skype, Messenger as well as Telegram to have a native desktop tool.
