The success of Google is evident when the company has made its name on the page of the dictionary as a verb. Two genius researchers, Larry Page, and Sergey Brin founded Google organization from its parent company Alphabet Inc. They started the journey as a search engine and witnessed a huge success within a few spans of years. The rapid growth of Google has triggered a chain of products beyond Google’s core search engine. It offers services like, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides, for work and productivity, Gmail, for email, Google Calendar, for time management, Google Drive for cloud storage, Duo, Hangouts for instant messages and video chat, Google Translate for language translation, Google Pay for financial transaction, Google Fit for health and fitness tracking, Google Maps, Waze, Google Earth, Street View for navigation and mapping, YouTube for video sharing, Google Keep for memorandum, Google Photos for photo organizing and editing. The company has also flourished in hardware services from 2010, it started its partnership with major electronics manufacturers in the production of its Nexus devices, and it also released multiple hardware products like smartphones: Google Pixel, smart speaker: Google Home, wireless router: Google Wifi, virtual reality headset: Google Daydream.

It took 18 years for Google to acquire the milestone to create a market capitalization of almost $530 billion. Google’s original business was to create algorithms for people to sort quickly through the growing amount of content uploaded online.

How Google started?

Back in 1996 when Larry and Page inaugurated the foundation, they named it ‘Backrub’. Later they decided to name it as a misspelling of the term ‘googol’. This term indicates a mathematical significance, representing the number ‘1′ followed by a hundred ‘0’s’. As the name suggests, they aimed to organize an infinite amount of information put on the internet through their search engine. Among the initial investors, friends, and family it raised around 1 million dollars. It allows them to commence their own shop in Menlo Park, California. After some extra investment by the end of 1998, a new record of $25 million of funding was declared, with major investors which include venture capital firms Kleiner Perkins and Sequoia Capital. You would be surprised to know that, this American multinational technology company, which owns more than seventy officers in fifty different countries, started their journey from a garage in California. They operated their start-up journey for 8-10 months from that rented garage before shifting to a proper office space in 1999.

Susan Wojcicki, the present CEO of YouTube was the 16th employee of the organization. As being a keen researcher, the two founders wanted to sell Google Inc., to pursue their careers in the academic field. However, they dropped down the idea after a few tries of fetching genuine buyers and started looking for investors. It took almost five months to find suitable investors to continue the business. Since 2004, he was working as the VP of Product Management, where his team was developing Chrome, Google’s native web browser. This Indian American business executive has made Google reach the next level, by introducing extraordinary services, other than their core objectives.
